Gamma Omicron Boule’ History
Chartered in 1986
The purpose of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity since its inception is reflected in the words of the Preamble to its constitution: Whereas it seems wise and good that men of ambition, refinement and self-respect should seek the society of one another, both for the mutual benefit and to be an example of the higher type of manhood; Be it resolved that a Society be organized for the purpose of binding men of like qualities into a close, sacred fraternal union, that they may know the best of one another, and that each in this life may to his full ability aid the other and by concerted action bring about those things that seem best for all that cannot be accomplished by individual effort.
In 1986 Archon Richard T. Greene, Jr., a member of Alpha Sigma Boulé, Brooklyn-Long Island, worked with Archons Robert Franklin and Butler Henderson to establish a fledgling boulé in the Tampa Bay area. Under the direction of Grand Sire Archon William McClain, Grand Grammateus Butler Henderson and Past Grand Sire Archon Robert Franklin, Gamma Omicron Boulé was chartered with seventeen new Archons.

As the Sunbelt burgeons with the well advertised demographic migration, so too should be the growth and extension of Sigma Pi Phi. With this thought in mind, Archon Richard Green, formerly of Alpha Sigma Boule’ in New York city, worked with Archons Robert Franklin and Butler Henderson to establish a fledging Boule’ in the Tampa bay area.
On June 28, 1986, under the direction of the then Grand Sire Archon William McClain, Grand Grammateus Archon Butler Henderson, and the former immediate Past Grand Sire Archon Robert Franklin, chairman of the expansion committee, the Tampa Bay Boule, Gamma Omicron, with its seventeen new archons, became members of the august fraternity.
The induction began with a string quartet which entertained the archousaias, the neophytes were initiated, and ended with a full blown disco after dinner. The dinner itself was highlighted by an inspiring and heartfelt welcome by the then Grand Sire Archon, William McClain, delivered to our newly imitated fraternal brethren.
Along with our national dignitaries came invited archons from neighboring Boule’s and as far away as New York City.
